Layne Energy explores for, acquires and develops oil and natural gas. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Layne Christensen Company [NASDAQ:LAYN] based in Kansas City, Layne Energy was formed in 2004 to operate several coalbed methane plays in the Cherokee Basin. In 2010, Layne Energy produced 17 MMcfd from and grew oil production to 100 Bopd from over 215,000 acres in the Cherokee Basin.  In addition to it’s core Cherokee assets, Layne Energy is evaluating its large acreage positions in Elk county, Kansas, and the Indiana portion of the New Albany shale.

Layne Energy's team uses a multi-disciplinary approach, integrating engineering, geology, finance, and operational expertise to optimize existing assets and evaluate new opportunities.  Layne Energy specializes in operating large scale, multiple-well exploration and exploitation programs in both oil and gas, creating opportunities for value growth in developing unconventional and conventional energy resources.
