The annual Integrated Petroleum Environmental Consortium (IPEC) show was held in Houston recently, and LES was there to exhibit and present. IPEC is a joint effort of four major research universities with a mission to increase the competitiveness of the domestic petroleum industry through a reduction in the cost of compliance with U.S. environmental regulations.
IPEC attendees had opportunity to meet LES personnel and learn more about our water management services to the oil and gas market. Mark Stone, LES Senior Process and Design Engineer, was one of the selected presenters, discussing his presentation on Produced Water Treatment Economic Evaporation and the EVRAS Evaporative Reduction and Solidification System.
LES was also present at the Developing Unconventional Gas (DUG) East show in Pittsburgh. DUG East is the largest gathering of unconventional oil and gas professionals in the Marcellus Shale play region. More than 2,500 attendees, 250 exhibitors and over 40 speakers who are instrumental in exploration, production and operations were on site.
Along with graphics, video and face-to-face presentations about LES’s unique bundle of water management services, the LES booth featured a replica of the Fenix II capsule used to rescue 33 miners last year in San Jose, Chile. The hole used to evacuate the miners in the Fenix II was drilled by Layne Christensen specialty drilling personnel. DUG East attendees at the LES booth were able to inspect and climb into the capsule – and get a photo while they were inside, too!
