VOC and Dissolved Gas Removal
Exposure to VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and dissolved gases in water presents
a long list of significant health risks or affect pH, and the USEPA has imposed strict MCLs
to assure public safety.
VOCs are organic chemical compounds which have significant vapor pressures and which can affect the environment and human health. VOCs are numerous and varied.
Dissolved gases include carbon dioxide (CO2) and radon.
Layne pioneered the concept of packed column air strippers for the removal of VOCs and dissolved gases from potable water through an aeration process. Custom designed and pre-engineered tower systems are available
in a wide variety of sizes and materials.
Gas Transfer Membranes are used extensively for the removal of dissolved gases in a number of industries, including pharmaceutical, power production, food and beverage, microelectronics, as well as in treatment of potable water.
